Soccer, athletics, American football, tennis and school sports. All this will be housed at Söder (South), a sports area in Kristianstad, Sweden.
In just five weeks, ArenaProjekt conducted an feasibility study of the area. Despite the tight schedule, three different options have been presented, varying between a total cost estimate of 288-349 millions SEK. ArenaProjekt’s CEO, Sven-Åke Wikers:
– A large area needs more of a helicopter view and is way more complicated than when surrounded by walls. There are many ways to solve the layout and logistics, but at the same time you have to take future development into consideration.
Söder will include the hosting of men’s soccer in Division 1 and women’s premiership and consists of two match courts and two training pitches, including an athletics track approved for national championships. The site area is 117,200 m2 and the capacity at the various units’ ranges from 800 to 2,500 seats.
ArenaProjekt has implemented programming, developed construction drawings, interviewed clubs and stakeholders about their needs and delivered a comprehensive cost calculation.
